In all its grandeur the Sibaya Coastal Precinct stretches out over 1000 hectares. In the mind’s eye it is hard to imagine what 1000 hectares looks like, let alone as a consummate, consolidated and fully-fledged precinct dressed as a city. We want to provide some perspective to future investors as the development of the Sibaya Coastal Precinct rolls out over the next few years.
Geographically speaking, the Sibaya Coastal Precinct is located between two estuaries, the Ohlanga (Umhlanga) and the eMdloti (Umdloti), with a portion which expands westwards and inland. Its shape hugs the beautiful KZN coastline for 6.5km, while its presence covers coastal dune forest, waterways, and grassland, of which 60% of the precinct remaining undeveloped. This precinct has been carefully planned, meticulously plotted and thoughtfully designed to encompass everything that makes up a city of the future. Described as a catalytic development, the precinct will undoubtedly stimulate further development and growth in the area with a positive impact on our local economy.
Part of the vision of the Sibaya Coastal Precinct is to seamlessly integrate modern living, safety and access to the breath-taking natural assets which make the precinct so unique. Within in the precinct is 350 hectares of protected indigenous coastal forest which will remain as it is, with one small difference; it will be accessible to residents and visitors. This will be a managed area, with access control and guards present so that people can enjoy the beauty of the forest comfortably and safely. In order to aid the access to the wonders of the forest, dedicated trails will meander through the trees accompanied by a series of interconnected routes for walkers, runners and bikers.
There will be beach access via trails through some of the residential estates on the coastal portion of the precinct. These trails and pathways will traverse over 75 kilometres throughout the precinct. The Sibaya Coastal Precinct is not only underpinned by a sustainability ethos but is also informed by an architectural code which will ensure that the development within the precinct is mindful of the surrounding natural environment and its preservation.
Spanning over 7 nodes, the Sibaya Coastal Precinct will transform KZN’s landscape and further establish an interconnected lifestyle South Africa has yet to experience. By registering with Invest Sibaya, you will further gain insight into the changes taking place within this precinct.
